My name is Sebastián Martínez. I am a Spanish/English interpreter for USCIS interviews. I attend the interview in person in Arlington, Fairfax, or Baltimore, and I interpret every word — your spouse's and the officer's.

You don't have to call. You can write.
If calling a stranger feels uncomfortable, send a message instead. I answer personally, in English or Spanish.
You can ask without giving your name. Asking costs nothing.
This is everything that happens when you write
- You send me the date of the interview and which office it is at. That's all.
- I tell you whether I am free that day and what it costs. In writing, so you can read it calmly.
- If you want, we book the day. If not, that's where it ends. I won't contact you again.
- On the day of the interview I arrive early and go in with you.
What is said stays there
I do not discuss your case with anyone. I do not keep copies of your documents. I publish nothing, I put your name nowhere, and I report nothing to anyone. My job is to interpret what is said in that room, and it stays there.
I do not work for USCIS or for the government. You hire me.
What I do
- Interpret every word, adding nothing and leaving nothing out.
- Study the vocabulary of your case type beforehand.
- Arrive early and stay with you through the whole process.
- Explain how the interpreting will work before we go in.
What I do not do
- I do not give legal advice. I am not an attorney or a notario.
- I do not fill out forms or prepare your case.
- I do not answer for you or change your answers.
- I do not promise any outcome. No honest person can.
If you are the English-speaking spouse
You cannot be the interpreter. The interpreter has to be a neutral person, not a party to the case, so the officer will not let you translate for your spouse. In a marriage case you may also be asked to wait outside for part of the interview while your spouse is questioned alone.
That is the situation I am there for. If you are sent out of the room, your spouse is not left alone with a language they are still learning. I stay, and every question and answer is interpreted exactly as it was said.
If you are the one arranging this, write me and I will handle the details with you. Your spouse does not have to make the call.
A flat price, quoted up front
I give you the full price in writing before you decide anything. I do not charge by the hour, I do not charge for questions, and there are no fees that appear later.
If the price doesn't work for you, say so. Nothing happens.

Many of my clients drive up from North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, or Virginia Beach. If you are coming from far away, we plan it with time.
For attorneys
Asylum, adjustment of status, removal of conditions, and naturalization. Familiar with Form G-1256 and standard USCIS interpreter protocol; consecutive interpreting in the first person. You may attend by telephone while I am present in the room with your client. Referrals from firms and nonprofits welcome, and I can usually confirm availability the same day.
